This Pre-Workshop Event has been Postponed

This is a busy time of year for students and all who help them succeed. To make things easier for them and to give them a lighter load, we’ve decided to move our Student Day so that we can maximize the impact will minimizing the stress. For all students who are working toward exams, good luck, and have an extra coffee! For instructors, make that TWO coffees! We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Society for News Design Foundation is excited to be part of the Society for News Design’s first ever, SND Week. The Foundation will hold two half-day pre-conference workshops, Student Sessions and Inclusive by Design: Why Accessibility Matters, on May 19 at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City.

“Students and young professionals have always been a focus of the Foundation,” Board of Trustees Chair, Paige K. Connor, stated. “One of our goals is to inspire the next generation with the possibilities and relevance of visual storytelling and its power to influence. Dedicating sessions to students gives them the opportunity to connect with professionals and learn from the experiences of others.”

Our SND Foundation Student Sessions pre-conference is designed to help you do just that! Our experienced professionals will provide you with tips and tricks for acing professional interviews, along with strategies to find your first job. 

In addition, the workshop will expose you to the wide range of industries where your visual storytelling skills can be applied. From publications and advertising to digital media and products, there are countless career paths available to you. During the pre-conference, you’ll have the opportunity to hear directly from professionals in the design field who have successfully navigated these industries and are excited to share their insights.

This is an exciting time, and the team at Upstatement can show young designers many of the career paths open to them, from traditional media to big tech, politics, philanthropy and entrepreneurship, all build on the foundations of visual storytelling and communication skills.
