This Pre-Workshop Event has been Postponed
Because of logistical issues, we will be postponing our Accessibility Workshop for Friday, May 19. But we will continue to share accessibility stats, tips, and awareness with you, hoping to be a resource for you and your organization to move forward in embracing accessibility.
Follow the SND Foundation on social media to learn about future accessibility workshops, trainings and locations.
The Society for News Design Foundation is excited to be part of the Society for News Design’s first ever, SND Week, programming two half-day workshops, Inclusive by Design: Why Accessibility Matters and Student Sessions, as part of the pre-conference events.
Inclusive by Design, a collaborative and hands-on half-day workshop, will held the afternoon of May 19 at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City. This workshop is designed for professionals who want to learn the basics of accessibility and how to create more inclusive designs for both digital and print mediums.
“Earlier this year, when the Foundation Board of Trustees was working to rethink the Foundation, we felt strongly that one of our core focuses must be inclusive design,” Board of Trustees Chair, Paige K. Connor, stated. “Everyone deserves equal access to information, no matter their abilities. That is why helping designers, developers and content creators understand accessibility needs and best practices is so important.”
About the Workshop
During the workshop, we will discuss real-world examples and experiences that attendees have faced, and work together to identify opportunities for improving accessibility. We’ll learn critical thinking skills that will help us identify accessibility barriers and develop practical solutions that work for everyone.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will leave with practical knowledge and tool tips for creating inclusive designs. They will have the confidence to identify accessibility barriers and develop solutions that will improve accessibility for all. Attendees will also be able to share their knowledge and create a culture of accessibility and inclusive design in their organizations.
Whether you’re a designer, developer, content creator, or just interested in improving accessibility, this workshop is for you. Join us for a fun and engaging learning experience that will help you create more inclusive designs and make a difference for everyone.
